Tuition Day 1:
We get together at The Cóbdar Studio with your tutor, John, and discuss what you wish to achieve from the week's tuition. This session will allow you to discuss your past screen-printing experience if any. For people with no printing experience additional tuition and guidance will be provided. The first lesson works on design theory and examples of current designs available on the high street; each student has a drawing pad and pen to sketch their design ideas. We discuss the process of turning your sketched design into artwork that will be a success when screen-printed onto garments, caps and bags.

Tuition Day 2:
Tuition at The Cóbdar Studios. We look at producing artwork form your designs, this would normally be produced on computer using a vectored program and output as film ready for making into a stencil. This is a time consuming process depending on the complexity of the design. Followed by a look at the alternative ways in which you can produce a stencil image on a silk screen. We then set up the stencil images on the garments to check that they work before creating the silk screen it's self.

Tuition Day 3:
Tuition at The Cóbdar Studios. We look at producing silk screens. This will involve preparing the silk screens by degreasing and coating them with a photosensitive emulsion. The screen, once dried in the dark will be ready to be exposed to your film image under the exposure light. Then the screen is jet washed out to reveal the image where the image was not exposed to the light. When the screen is dry it can be brown taped around the image ready for printing.

Tuition Day 4:
Tuition at The Cóbdar Studios. You now get to print your hard work onto Fabrics, T-shirts, Caps or Bags. This is the fun stuff setting up the screen bench or caracal and printing a wide range of types and colours of inks. We continue to work on the print finishing until all students have competed this stage and are happy with their work. If any student would like to print a volume of garments for friends and family this can be arrange at an extra cost.

Tuition Day 5:
Tuition at The Cóbdar Studios. We now can have more of an artistic journey using airbrush to enhance your screen-printed designs. This would involve cutting masks and stencils for your garments. For people with no airbrush experience additional tuition and guidance will be provided remember it just for fun. Followed by tie-dying t shirts for the perfect hippy look if this fits in with your project idea.

Tuition Day 6:
Tuition at The Cóbdar Studios. We embellish the printed garments using airbrushing, tie-dye, block printing, stitch work and apply gems. To further enhance your screen-printed designs on Fabrics and T-shirts. There has never been a course like this one so what are you waiting for book today.
